CPD Scheme
What we do
Our strong and longstanding partnerships with schools enable us to deliver high-quality Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes through YMCA packages. These programmes support teachers across a wide range of sports, including Gymnastics, Athletics, Tag Rugby, Multi-Sports, Uni Hockey and Netball.
We offer up to 30 full days of CPD within an academic year, delivered in line with the National Curriculum. Sessions are taught alongside class teachers and pupils, ensuring practical, hands-on professional learning that directly supports classroom practice.
Over the years, teachers have actively participated in sessions by observing, taking notes and assisting with delivery. This collaborative approach encourages professional discussion and the opportunity to ask relevant questions, helping teachers to develop their confidence, knowledge and skills. Pupils, in turn, engage enthusiastically and consistently enjoy the sessions.

Our CPD Packages
YMCA offers a flexible range of CPD options tailored to meet the needs of individual schools. Packages range from a full academic year programme of up to 30 sessions aligned with the National Curriculum, to shorter blocks including half-day, full-day, lunchtime or after-school options.
Each CPD package includes:

One highly experienced, professionally qualified YMCA coach who is fully DBS checked

A comprehensive scheme of work with detailed session plans and a clear progression of skills for the chosen sport

Ongoing assessment, with both verbal and written feedback

A Certificate of Achievement and Attendance for all participating teachers and teaching assistants
In addition to CPD, we also offer a full programme of lunchtime and after-school clubs, providing pupils with access to a wide range of sporting activities.
